Position Overview:

Participate as a member of the Strategy Leadership Team at the enterprise level to build Center of Excellence growth strategies and physician partnerships and outreach at Sutter Health.

This role will develop Centers of Excellence (COEs) growth targets and strategies to serve more patients system wide. . This includes assessing the feasibility of building a COE program, developing a clinical program growth strategy, setting growth targets, and creating specific initiatives to execute against. The role will work closely with Market Presidents and system Service Line President to deliver the work.

This role will also support and enable physician outreach by service lines. This includes identifying critical physician groups to engage in, strategizing physician outreach approaches, and helping to build relationships with priority community physicians and medical groups. The role will communicate the strategic vision of Sutter Health to align physician understanding and participation with Sutter Health effectively. This role will support other physician growth strategies defined by the Market executives and system Service Line executives, as well as network development for Sutter Health Network.

The VP has overall responsibility for developing and supporting projects/ initiatives related directly to growth-oriented strategic initiatives and development. Specifically, will lead and support physician network growth and business development / outreach including Virtual Grand Rounds, Service Line Outreach in partnership with Service Line leaders. The VP works in partnership with local and system wide executives and physician leadership to ensure direct linkage between the strategic plan and market service area/entity business plans and enterprise COE growth plans. Key Performance Metrics will include growth in patients served by service line.

Job Description:

Education/Certification/Licensure

Experience

  • Extensive background in strategy and physician business development experience, as typically acquired during 15+ years in health systems or healthcare companies.

  • Relevant work experience in project management (framing projects, developing work plans, moving initiatives forward quickly)

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of the external environment, including payers, employers, hospital systems, economics, and the healthcare reform act.

  • Knowledge of physicians’ and physician groups’ business and operations

  • Thorough understanding of health system businesses, including value-based care

  • Understanding of the healthcare regulatory environment

Skills

  • Knowledge in establishing relationships with key priority physician stakeholders and being able independently to problem-solve or negotiate with stakeholders to meet Sutter Health and community needs

  • Mature application of strategy frameworks into strategy-setting

  • Effective oral and written communication and engaging presentation skills, including the ability to translate complex legal, compliance, strategic, and business development concepts in a clear, concise, and practical manner

  • Proven ability to create an environment that encourages cooperation, motivation, innovation, and high-performance teamwork

  • Strong computer skills with an advanced level of competency in Microsoft Office Suite, with a focus on spreadsheets and PowerPoint

Pay Range is $132.81 to $179.69 / hour

The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs.
